An Antique Victorian Large Framed Majolica Pictorial Tile, dating from the second half of the 19th century. The tile depicts a classical figure of a woman with a wine jug, probably Hebe, The Goddess of Youth. The olive green tile is encased in a deep ornate gilded frame. There is a possibility that it is Wedgwood as they also made similar classically themed tiles.
The whole thing measures approximately 18 1/2 inch x 12 inch. The frame has been touched up in the past and has little bits of loss and damage. The tile shows some crackling to the glaze and a little bit of damage in the bottom corner, which I have shown in a close up in my final photograph. For a better idea of the condition please study my photographs.I'm listing now for the Christmas season and have many lovely and often unusual items to offer, something for everyone. Please keep an eye on my listings if you are looking for a gift that is a little bit different. I describe condition as honestly as possible and mention if there are any issues but please be aware that many of my things are old and age may lead to some imperfection.
