Tiffany Studios, Pine Needle Stamp Box, Green Glass, Patina, Early Beaded Border

The box is done in the "Pine Needle" desk set pattern and the item is a called a "Stamp Box". The patina on the metal is the most desirable green/brown with some reddish highlights.

The stained glass is the green/white opalescent Favrile glass. The stamp box measures 4" wide by 2 1/4" deep and 1 1/2 tall. This stamp box displays an acid etched Pine Needle overlay pattern on green/white opalescent Favrile glass.

This overlay is on all sides except the bottom. It is further accented with a beaded border on the top and sides.

This is not the typical beading you see but a variant version of the beading. This box sits on top of 4 bun style feet. This is the most desirable and fanciest of the Tiffany Pine Needle desk set pieces to acquire! The patina is very rich in color as it shows the Verdi green with brown and some highlights of red.

It still retains its original Insert to hold stamps and the patina on that is excellent as well. This stamp box is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, or chips to any of the glass. The stamp box is signed on the bottom underside edge. It is signed with the "Tiffany Studios New York" impressed mark along one side and the pattern number "801" to the right of it. This is a an extremely nice stamp box in excellent condition.

When these are found there is usually some kind of damage to the glass or it is missing its bronze insert to hold stamps! This one has no damage and it still has its original insert. This box is almost as good as the day it was made and it shows minimal signs of use. I believe the Pine Needle pattern to have been one of the first of the Fancy Goods product lines made at Tiffany Studios. Tiffany Studios assigned a 3 digit number to their desk set pieces after 1902.

Up until then they were only Signed "Tiffany Studios" or "Tiffany Studios New York". Some had no numbers, some had 1 maybe 2 numbers but not 3.
