The inkwell is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, or chips to any of the glass. There are some ink stains inside the lid but not on the top. This area typically has ink stains and it appears that its previous owner must have wiped it clean when it happen.
There is almost no ink stains in this area. One of the feet has a small indent to the round ball area on the inside of the ball. This can be seen only when turning the inkwell upside side down and upon close inspection.
This is pictured and considered insignificant. The clear glass insert is also in excellent condition with no issues to report. This insert is original as it has a tiny counter sunk pontil. The hinge on the lid is in excellent working condition as the cover opens and closes with ease. This one is not signed. The inkwell is signed on the underside bottom edge with the impressed mark into the metal that reads "Tiffany Studios New York" along with the model or shape number "11". I believe the Grapevine pattern to have been one of the first of the Fancy Goods product lines made at Tiffany Studios.Tiffany started numbering his desk set pieces usually with a 3 digit number after 1902. Since this inkwell has a 2 digit number this inkwell was made prior to then.
