Superb Art Nouveau Edwardian 9ct Gold Peridot & Seed Pearl Openwork Brooch c1910

  
This superb brooch is a beautiful example of Art Nouveau jewellery from the Edwardian era, crafted from 9ct yellow gold and featuring stunning green peridot and delicate seed pearls. Stamped 9ct with makers mark S. The intricate openwork design is inspired by flowers and plants, a popular theme in Art Nouveau, and the peridot is held securely in a bezel setting, with scattered seed pearls claw set within leaves.

Blanckensee & Son Ltd of Birmingham, Great Britain; this brooch is a rare and original piece of fine jewellery from pre-1920. Ball hinge, pin and'c' catch to fasten. There is also a small fixed loop where a safety chain could be attached, if desired. In good antique condition; one of the peridot (the bottom one) has a conchoidal fracture to the table, noted under a loupe.
