A FABULOUS QUALITY SUFFRAGETTE ART NOUVEAU PERIOD 14CT YELLOW GOLD, PENDANT / BROOCH - C1900'S, PERIOD BOX. A REALLY GOOD ANTIQUE PENDANT / BROOCH & QUIRKY FUN! This item dates from c1900's. This jewel are presented in a lovely brown leather presentation box. This brooch / pendant is superbly detailed and is stunning! It weighs 5.61 grams. This pendant / brooch is a fantastic quality item and is fully stamped 14k gold. The brooch is set with a number of crystals and a profusion of seed pearls. The jewel is stamped 14k and has an unidentified makers mark. This was probably an imported item and maybe of Italiaon or Austrian manufacture?

It is unusually set with a swivel bale, which folds down when worn as a brooch. The pendant has the original gold swivel pendant fitting, but no chain is attached. The clasp is made up in gold metal. The brooch has its original gold bar clasp and a good safety mechanism. The brooch weighs 5.61 grams.

This type of item is exceptionally rare today's market and were not available commercially in period, so many would have been adapted from period necklaces by jobbing jewellers, resulting in some unusual designs and a large range of styles. This necklace is from an earlier period and would have been up to 10 years old when adapted and is of premium quality, so a rare survivor? The glass stones featured are Peridot for Green, Amethyst for Violet, clear crystal for White, supposedly symbolizing the Suffragette movements mantra, Give Women the Vote? These colours were first adopted in C1900 and the colours represent G reen for Hope, W hite for purity and V iolet for dignity.

Is in made up of a mix of sparkling multi-faceted crystals in sparkling peridot, amethyst & clear crystals. The overall affect is one of great charm. The pendant measures 1.0'' in overall length including the drop pendant. It is 1.5'' wide. It has an overall depth of 0.25''.

Is a little care worn lovely period retailer's presentation box in dark brown leather, with a cream velvet pad and satin interior. It has an excellent hidden hinge and a good button clasp.

It is in antique condition 2/3 and shows age related wear to both exterior and interior. This item is in vintage condition 1/2.

There is no damage to any of the components apart from surface scratching to the larger glass crystals and some age related delamination to the metal work including minor marking. The bale is in good order and may be the original. The clasp is in good order and may be the original. All of the assay marks are legible.
