Spectacular Vintage Weller Pottery Marvo Flower Vase with Ferns Flowers & Foliage

  

This substantial vase is in excellent, near-mint condition with no chips, no cracks, light crazing, and no repairs. There is a tiny amount of peppering and pinholes in the glaze, along with some rubs in the glaze at the rim from gentle use. This vase is 7-1/4" tall, 6-1/4" wide at the shoulder, and 3-3/4 wide at the top rim opening.

The base of the pottery is unmarked but is distinctively identified as Weller Marvo. The vase has an ovoid shape with a collared rim. The Marvo line is distinguished by its design of an art-nouveau motif including ferns, flowers, leaves and other foliage. It features a beautiful, matte yellowish-green underglaze with a darker greenish-brown overwash that creates a stunning, patinated ombre effect from top to bottom. This piece is from the 1920s and does exhibit evidence of light wear on the ground base rim. This vase is very clean both inside and out, and is very heavy and visually striking.
