This is a beautiful, historic (c1900) piece of superb Art Nouveau design. I believe it to be British in origin, although typically, I cannot see any markings on the reverse as it is covered in blue enamel. I love this design and this beauty has the advantage of having both a bale to wear as a pendant, as well as a pin to wear as a brooch. I have demonstrated the pendant using one of my own chains. The design is almost quite Jugendstil but I have seen it on British pieces of the c1900 too.
The enamel is bright blue and green and highly glossy. The blister pearl in the centre is a lovely pale milky colour and it has been mounted in a very finely millegrained setting. It was clearly made by an excellent silversmith. There are two arms almost, that seem to offer up the central pearl to us. There is a playful pearl suspended from the bottom of the design, which adds a lovely sense of movement to the piece generally.
She was in such a state when I found her but she has had a little tlc from a team of jewellers in Hatton garden, London and now she has another lease of life. She has a little sliver of the top section of enamel missing on the top right.... Her pin was replaced and so was the pearl dangler. She has some patina you may wish to polish further. A beautiful old girl, waiting to be popped onto someone's old chain and shown around. She is a complete eyecatcher!!! A beautiful thing indeed which will be sent by International Tracked and Signed from Italy. Box and chain in images are for display only, however, I will include a lovely new gift box.
