Set of 5 Original Art Nouveau tiles C 1910 Wessel Bonn ROSES

  

Beautiful set of 5 Art Nouveau tiles made in Germany at Louis Wessel's factory in Bonn. This factory was founded in 1896 and these five tiles will have been made around 1900. The decoration of roses surrounded by leaves and branches with thorns is done in relief. The decoration is embossed by dust-pressed technique in which clay powder is compressed under high pressure in a mold.

The tiles have a beautiful color scheme of red on dark blue and the branches and leaves are green. All tiles in good used condition, slight traces of use such as a few small scratches to glaze and a few fleabites to the sides. The tiles are 6 square (15.1 x 15.1 cm). I have been an antique dealer since 2002 and specialise in antique tiles (Medieval, Portuguese, Spanish, Delft, Art Nouveau and Art Deco) and also Dutch Delftware. You can meet me at tile fairs in Germany: stadt Zons in March or in September in Boizenburg and der Elbe.

I also go to England every year for the tile fair organised by the TACS. The fair in England always takes place on the first Saturday of October in Nottingham.
