It would make an important addition to any Minton or indeed period kitchenalia collection and is potentially of museum interest. As shown, this model of cheese stand is featured on page 16 of the official, period, Minton Secessionist Ware booklet which details the product range.
Unlike the vases and other forms, which were produced primarily for decorative purposes, the cheese stands had a function and were actively used. This means relatively few have survived undamaged. Alternatively, collection in person is very welcomed. This is a large piece: the base approx 26.5 x 22 cms. The overall height is approx 13 cms.As to be expected, the glaze to both the cover and base displays a network of crazing. Although there is very slight dirt ingress in a few limited areas, the crazing is remarkably clean and so the piece, overall, presents extremely well indeed. There is a slight nick / fleabite to the glaze on the edge of the cover (please see the last photo, where I've highlighted this). Some minor firing imperfections are present here and there..... Again typical of this kind of pottery.
Some minor scuffs to the edges. A tiny'pop' away to the underside edge of the cover.
No restoration of any kind. All in all, you will be very hard pushed to find a better example.... This just might be the cleanest and best example out there? All items are packed with care, to a high standard and sent via tracked and signed for courier.Arrived on time and as described. If I could leave a million stars, I would.
