RARE HAND TUBELINED & PAINTED MINTON SECESSIONIST TWIN HANDLED VASE No. 1
RARE HAND TUBELINED & PAINTED MINTON SECESSIONIST. TWIN HANDLED VASE - No. This is a wonderful, and I should think very rare and quite unusual hand tube-lined and painted tall cylindrical twin handled vase in the early Secessionist / Art Nouveau style designed by Leon Solon and John Wadsworth, made at the Minion factory (Stoke-on-Trent) and dates, I would guess, from 1900-05 (the early salon first period - see model number). In fine tube-lined trailing it is depicted in the mentioned tall twin handled slightly tapering cylindrical form with splayed foot and rim and fine hand tube lining in the form of what looks to be highly stylised Peacock feathers, in a sap green, with draped laurel swags against a painted mottled red ground. It is back stamped with the Minton Secessionist mark, the'No. Stamp, a decorator's mark, and other Minton marks - see photographs and details. It measures 11 7/8" (30cm) H x 5 1/2" (6cm) Dia. At the base approx; and is in excellent condition with only what looks to be a small stress crack to the underside of the base rim to report, however it doesn't travel to the surface, in fact it doesn't even travel over the base rim - again see photographs and details. This is a lovely piece of rare early period Minton Secessionist ceramics with lovely hand tube trailing and painting which is in fine condition and with a low start price should attract a good deal of interest from all collectors. THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS SALE. Almost everything I sell is in the condition I have bought it, unless otherwise stated, (I have learnt to my cost in the past not to tamper with an item), and therefore I have neither had items repaired nor restored. I will endeavour to report on an item which has had either; however I take no responsibility if an item has been tampered with and I cannot detect it.
