RARE, 22" Antique French Bronze Figural Lamp, "The Water Bearer signed by Auguste Moreau (1834 - 1917). This Cupid/Cherub statue by French master Auguste Moreau exudes whimsy and exquisite attention to detail. The figure's movement is vibrant due to the piece's resonance, facial expression and historical content. The rich bronze finish brings this piece to life. A beautiful addition to any home that speaks volumes about Moreau's ability to capture a moment in time.

This bronze lamp is handmade and cast in the traditional lost wax casting process. This insures a quality sculpture that may be passed down from generation to generation.

This lamp has been wired for American outlets and has a switch on the cord to turn the lamp off and on. The round glass globe gives off a pleasant glow, but has paint wear.

A new globe will be provided along with the original, in case you choose to replace it. Sculptor Auguste Moreau was the third son of sculptor and painter Jean Baptiste Moreau. In 1861, Auguste made his debut at the Salon in Paris, where he would exhibit regularly until 1913.

His allegorical Art Nouveau works often depicted cherubs, women, children and historical figures. His works were influential to other artists working at the time. His style is realistic and graceful.
