The vase displays a nice Floriform or flower form shape. The vase has a round wafer style foot with the body that rises up and tapers up and slightly outwards. At the top it is ruffled like the petals of a flower.
There are 6 of these ruffles. The vase is further decorated with a beautiful fishnet style pattern. It has horizontal green wavy lines with vertical gold iridescent lines. These are set against a calcite white body. When looking closely it resembles a diamond optic pattern. As an added bonus looking inside you can see some of the finest brilliant gold onion skin iridescence I have seen on a Quezal vase in quite some time. The gold reaches way down inside and is uniform in color as the brilliant iridescence fades as it reaches the inside bottom.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. This vase is extremely clean and shows minimal signs of use. There is NO calcium deposits inside the vase what so ever. This vase has a beautiful polished counter sunk pontil. The finishing sign of a quality piece of art glass. It is signed on the bottom with the acid etched "Quezal" cipher along with the letter "S" and the number "436". Was the founder of Quezal. The quality of his glass was as good as Tiffany, Steuben and Loetz. Quezal Art Glass pieces rarely come up in today's market.
They were more noted for their art glass lighting shades that they produced by the tens of thousands. It appears that the collectors do not want to let vases go. It is my belief that Quezal used a lettering system similar to L.
Tiffany used a prefix letter and a suffix letter before a number. Since Quezal started much later than Tiffany it is my belief that lettering system stood by a single letter. Since Quezal started producing glass in 1902 it is my belief that they used the letter "A" for this year. In 1903 was the letter'B and so on. Since mine has the letter "S" it is my belief that this vase was made circa 1920.
