They were in fact produced in Spain by Cortasa Alpaca from the 1970s onwards. Some have the company mark on the badse of the tail, some are unmarked. We have seen three with that marks filed away.
The hinges on this example has been replaced and we have had this completely silver plated. It is an attractive and functiuonal item but Crichton it is not.
