MOORCROFT: Gorgeous MacIntyre florian ware biscuit barrel. In the late 1890s, William Moorcroft was on the brink of shaking up the British pottery world. Having just taken over as pottery chief at MacIntyre, he began work on his masterpiece collection: Florian ware. This remarkable and intricate biscuit barrel (cookie jar) is an excellent example of his early work in the florian ware line that would go on to win a world gold medal in 1904. The biscuit barrel stands 5 inches tall without lid, and the lid adds an additional 2-1/2 inches of height, bringing it to 7-1/2 inches with lid on.
It stands a total of 9 inches with the handle up. The brass lid is 4-1/2 inches across and the footprint of the cookie jar is 3-3/4 inches. It is signed on the base by William Moorcroft.
