Legras'Marignan' Art Nouveau Chrysanthemum Enamelled Green Glass Vase. C1900 2

  

A Francois Legras'Marignan' shape, mould blown quatrefoil lobed green glass vase enamelled and gilded with chrysanthemum and foliage decoration. The vase has a round neck flaring out slightly from the lower body, the body is thickly hand painted in coloured enamels in a stylised chrysanthemum and leaf design with a band of matt ochre enamel leaf pattern transfer around the top and central part of the body c1900.

A similar shape vase can be seen in the book'LEGRAS' by Michel & Vitrat on page 247 -plates 0608, and page 234 0512. This is one of 2 of these vases I have currently listed this is number 2.

Glass is excellent, no restoration, chips, cracks and no staining, enamelling is in excellent order for age, and some of the transfer enamelling is worn or not applied properly in certain areas but reasonable overall, there are a few small bubble inclusions internally all of which are left over from the manufacturing process, other signs of wear commensurate with age and use.
