Antique Art Nouveau Jugendstil necklace. 900 silver, plique-a-jour enamel and chalcedony.

Measurements: Weight is 10.2 grams. 22 1/2 inches (58cm) long.

Drop approximately 2 1/4 inches (6cm) not including the small chains. Description : Jugendstil jewelry from Pforzheim distilled the Art Nouveau style to its essence and this necklace is a fantastic example. Designed with a tremendous sense of movement, swags and swirls that swoop in different directions. Silver fans and wings swoop in opposing directions, the silver metal cages encasing bright and lively yellow-emerald green pliq-a-jour enamel.

Set with a ring of silver-collette- enclosed cabochon chalcedony and with large, elongated ovals of chalcedony swinging at the bottom and forming the heart of the drop. Looking at the drop from the back, we an see how much care was made to make an immaculate piece of jewelry. The chain is made of long, rounded rectangles and is very typical of Heinrich Levinger jewelry, as can be seen by various examples in the book Jugendstil Schmuck / Art Nouveau Jewellery aus Pforzheim / from Pforzheim by Fritz Falk.
