Glinda 14 Handmade Beaded Silk Art Nouveau Lampshade Satin, Lace. Chiffon

  
Glinda is a 14 Art Nouveau fringed lampshade in silk and lace fabrics, she's adorned with complimenting handstrung glass beads from my vintage bead collection. My daughter challenged me to make something that used the colours from Wicked, and this is what I came up with. This is an entirely handstitched lampshade made using traditional artisan methods as described below.

The frame was wrapped in cotton, then the fabric was stretched and pinned onto the frame, after this the panels were individually hand sewn. The larger panels are made with a fine dupion silk in a pale apple green, the silk is overlaid with a heavily embroidered floral lace.

The smaller panels are made from a delicate blush pink silk charmeuse overlaid with hand pleated blush pink silk chiffon. I've trimmed the lampshade with delicate green scroll braid and she has a 4 inch double layered oyster fringe. The points are adorned with handstrung glass beads. The lampshade is fully lined with a light diffusing, fire retardant white fabric and as expected there is no bulb show through. This is a very decadent ampshade.

It took me two weeks to make, not to mention the amount of thought that went into the design before I started. This is a one off, original and will be the only one I make - a true artisan piece. The price reflects the quality of the item - she's shown here on a 14 inch Victorian table lamp but would work on a much large table lamp too - I've had her sitting on a 19 inch column base and she looked great. She has a ring fitting and could also be hung from a pendant.

I will include a fitting of you choice (carrier or spider) with the sale. The lampshade will be professionally wrapped and boxed, she will be sent tracked and insured to her full value.
