Size: 32.5 cm tall. Condition: Excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration. Inside the foot is a small bit of kiln debris (this has been there from manufacture). This is a particularly lovely piece of art glass from the end of the 19th century.
Hand blown, with an unpolished pontil mark, it is brilliantly made, with precise and controlled details, and even a folded foot. As well as looking great, it has a lovely clear ring when tapped. The vase was made by Charles Kempton & Sons at the Albert Glass Works in Vauxhall Walk, Lambeth, London, set up in 1880 and later known as Nazeing Glass.
This maker was just across the road from James Powell & Sons who made very similar ware. We know that this vase is Kempton on account of their advertisements. We have another very similar vase and the two were probably intended as a pair, although being hand blown they can never be identical. We are happy to sell them singly or as a pair - please enquire if you are after the latter.
