Art Nouveau Enamel Necklace Sterling Silver circa 1915. A stunning antique necklace dating from circa 1915. Made from silver and decorated in gorgeous shades of royal blue and turquoise enamel. This piece has fabulous style details and must have been made at the exact moment when Art Nouveau began to merge with Art Deco, so the necklace has the flowing curves of Art Nouveau and the geometric symmetry of Art Deco, all working together in perfect harmony. The main part of the pendant has a row of three squares with the gorgeous blue enamels, with a further central enamelled square set within geometric forms and from this section hangs a glorious long tapered arrow drop, with the pointed tip also having the bi-coloured blue enamel, while the top of the pendant attaches to a cabochon of greenish-blue turquoise.
The original silver chain attaches to either side of the bezel of the turquoise and is fastened by a lovely silver barrel clasp of octagonal shape. The necklace is in superb condition, with no damage at all to the enamel and all the components original to the piece. The back of the main panel is stamped Sterling Silver, rather indistinctly and there looks to be maker's marks, too, which are also too indistinct to be read. There may once have been shorter drops to either side of the long arrow drop, but the piece works wonderfully well as it is.
