Art Nouveau Czech Bohemian Threaded Glass Vase Pot Milk Glass Chased Moss Green

  
CZECH THREADED CHASED GLASS VESSEL. This listing features a wonderful hand blown and threaded glass vase. It can also be used as a small pot. Most likely antique, it comes from my grandmother's extensive glass collection. There was a loose note inside it that read'France' but I found it packed with Czechoslovakian glass. I think it's Czech and the note was misplaced. It has a nicely polished pontil and is definitely not the work of an amateur.

Although not iridescent or signed, this piece looks exactly like Loetz's work to my eye. There aren't many chased pieces like it attributed to him (or anyone else) but the -threads and ground tension look right. Measuring 5 1/2 inches tall by 6 1/2 inches in diameter at the rim, it is flawless.

The small circular impression on the pontil scar is not a chip, but may be the end of a polished down thread. The exterior translucent green glass is tucked in by glossy black glass threads that completely encircle it.

The interior is chased with smooth, clean milk glass, and make it ideal for a flower arrangement or small potted plant, if you prefer art that functions. It could certainly elevate the ordinary holiday poinsettia. Thanks to my grandmother, it spent it's previous life at leisure, unmarked by traditional vessel work. I remember it serving as an unadorned focal point in one of her lighted display cabinet.

This piece is weighty at 2 pounds and 9.3 ounces but it will be packed with great care. It's only negative issue is that it's been packed away far too long.
