A rare and beautiful Art Nouveau pearlescent flower bowl with a green glass threaded pattern and an iridescent sheen, dating from the early 1900s. The bowl is unsigned but has a polished pontil mark (a pontil is a hot metal rod used to hold the vessel while it as formed, leaving a ring-shaped mark on the base).
I have seen the same style attributed to both Pallme-König and Loetz, Bohemian glass companies. Neither tended to sign their works, but most Pallme-König pieces have no pontil mark as they were blown into a mold, so it may well be by Loetz. The vase dates from the early 1900s. This gorgeous flower bowl is made of a creamy-white pearlescent glass that has a satin finish and an iridescent sheen.
It's in the shape of a bowl with a turned back lip that has a crimped edge. The bowl is decorated with bright green glass threads in a random drizzled design around the widest part of the body. The green also has an iridescent sheen to it.
Height - 10cm (4 inches). Diameter - 16cm (6 1/4 inches). Weight - 700g (1lb 8.7oz). The bowl is in excellent condition with no damage. There are a couple of tiny bubbles in the glass and a couple of tiny black specks on the inside of the bowl, from the manufacturing process.
