Antique Large Brannam Barum Barnstable Grotesque Fish Jug 30cm
A beautiful example of the unique style of art pottery produced by the potters of Barnstable in North Devon. This piece is produced in a high gloss green glaze. The front shows a wide mouthed abstract grotesque fish amongst blue and brown seaweed and the spout is the head of fish. The base is incised Brannam Barum Devon.
It is signed J D The artist James Dewdey and was made in the late 19th century around 1880. 30cm high about 20cm wide and heavy.
