Jewelry: 1910 - 1939 Art Deco. ANTIQUE 1880 MASSIER POTTERY FRENCH ART NOUVEAU VASE. Hand painted fuschia Cyclamens and foliage adorn this hand-thrown Art Pottery vase from the three Massier brothers, made in about the 1880, to the turn of the century in VALLAURIS, the famed French artists' colony on the Cote d'Azur. Massier is an important French family of artists whose works are highly collected and sought after! This vase in in the elegant Art Nouveau style! Vallauris, the capital of Southern French terra cotta work, is known for its originality of design, highest-quality workmanship and leading role as a source of inspiration for many contemporary pottery artists.

PICASSO and JEAN MARAIS, to name just two, have worked in it's ateliers, and numerous artists and galleries have a presence in this important artistic center. This large vase has an elegant silhouette, with two handles that split into two parts at the bottom. The beige color is a neutral shade sure to complement any decor, and this dramatic piece commands prominent display in the home. Signed "Jean Massier Vallauris" on side near bottom. The bottom has the remnants of a sticker, as well as a circular mark that reads "Jean Massier Vallauris" as well.
