This large late 19th-century vessel is crafted from glass with a stunning iridescent finish which creates a shimmering metallic lustre. The vase features a globular broad-shouldered body tapering down to a flared pedestal foot topped with a removable pierced brass flower frog designed to hold stems in place. The brass rim displays a decorative openwork geometric pattern contrasting with the smooth organic form of the Bohemian glass. This piece is a classic example of the Art Nouveau movement's focus on fluid shapes and experimental surface treatments particularly those popularized by the Kralik and Loetz Witwe glassworks in the late 1800s.
