Green & Co Ltd pottery in Church Gresley, Derbyshire DE11. An Art Nouveau (1898)'Ivanhoe' Vase. Whilst in the Swadlincote area in the late 1890s designer Dr Christopher Dresser (Linthorpe Pottery) created many patterns & shapes for both Henry Tooth (Bretby Art Pottery) and William Ault later of Ashby Potters Guild.Green & Co Ltd Dresser created the Ivanhoe range. The range was split into two designs, one largely of hand decorated tulips and bulrushes the other a very much organic Art Nouveau freestyle pattern. One of a pair held here at the pottery archives in Church Gresley, this vase is in good condition for 122 years old, no chips or cracks.
