1898 Art Nouveau Loetz Creta Papillon Iridescent Art Glass Vase. For your consideration is a fine antique Bohemian art glass vase dating to the late 19th century. A creation by Loetz Klostermuehle of Austria, this lovely piece features a beautiful olive green bronze color with rainbow hues known in Loetz terminology as "Creta Papillon", a well documented decor on the Loetz website. Photos do no justice for this lovely vase. This vessel has a gorgeous satin oil spot (papillon) iridescent finish, fluted floral or fan style top, with fire-polished rim and pontil base.
The quality of this glass is comparable to L. Tiffany, Favrille and Steuben Glass of New York, all competitors at the turn of the century. The vase is considered to be in overall excellent condition, as there are no cracks, chips or repairs. There are a few small bubbles formed during the creation and manufacturing of this piece.
The vase is unsigned and measures approximately 10 height. If you are a collector of Bohemian Art Nouveau art glass, you will not be disappointed with this piece.
