The vase is considered a cabinet form. The vase stands 4 13/16" tall and is 2 7/8" in diameter at the bulge. The pattern is called "Pulled Feather" and the decoration is just splendid. The vase displays a classic Greek or Grecian urn form. The body is a swollen form off of a round foot that has a very nice neck and top opening that resembles a Grecian Oil Jar.

This is all formed from a single piece of glass. It has a very lovely two tone green pulled feather pattern over a calcite white body.

Each feather is pulled from the foot upwards towards the base of the neck and each feather is outlined in a gold Aurene Favrile iridescent glass. This is very difficult to do.

The pulled feather decoration is very similar to L. Tiffany Favrile version of pulled feathers as they are more abstract than Quezal or Steuben which were executed with precision.

The inside of the vase at the mouth looking in is finished with a brilliant gold iridescence as you can see. The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There are a few tooling marks on the inside lip and these are pictured. The underside has a few muddy areas in the glass. This was made this way and typical of their glass.

The bottom of the vase shows very minor wear and is typical of a vase that was taken care of through the years. The vase is signed with the wide etched KEW-BLAS signature mark inside of the counter sunk polished pontil. William Blake an e mployee of The Union Glass Company of Somerville, Mass produced a range of art glass called Kew-Blas, which was an anagram of his name. He did this during his employment with them. This vase is much rarer than Kew-Blas's contemporaries of the day such as L.

Favrile, Steuben Aurene, Quezal and Loetz. They only blew this type of art glass for 8 years. It rivals the quality of LCT Tiffany Favrile and is quite similar. CLEMENTS ANTIQUES OF NEW HAMPSHIRE STOREFRONT. Please wait for my Invoice before paying.
