Enamelled Cast Iron Wood Burner. Made by Odelin of Paris.

Originally a Deville et Cie design from 1910, this special model with a domed lid was made under license by Odelin Nattey Bourdon who were reknown for their massive Robur hôtel stoves. One of Devilles most beautiful designs, it takes its inspiration from the art of the Ottoman court, very much in vogue in 1910. French stove makers always considered their stoves as the focal point of a room. This little stove makes quite an impact without taking up much space. It is one of the few models of antique and vintage French stoves that loads from the front.

It was named as the Express from its ability to heat up quickly after a trouble free lighting. It is very simple to operate, the rate of burn being controlled by the air slide at the base of the door.

The lid lifts to reveal twin hotplates. Retaining the original cast iron internal fittings (which are in good condition), the stove has been restored with a new steel firebox, new refractory brick hearth and new mica to the windows.

The gallery photo shows the stove under test in the workshop but fitted with old mica, you will now have a clear view of the flickering flames. We have included pictures of the very neat period mend to the ashcatcher which we feel adds to its charm. It is ready for installation but will need a flue adapter for converting the vintage size outlet to modern regs.

Height with lid up: 86 cms. Depth with ashcatcher: 55 cms. Diameter of flue outlet: 105 mms, tapered.

Height from floor to top of flue stub: 52 cms. This stove is currently in France but will be brought to the U. The second week of November to be collected from Long Eaton near Nottingham just off the M1.

It can also be collected from Templecombe, Somerset just off the A 303 and from Swanage on the Dorset Jurassic coast. No unsold/unpaid items will be loaded.
