Bradley & Hubbard Rivited Arts & Crafts Oil Lamp, Frogsking Green Patina, Nice
This lamp is a large size for a desk lamp. The lamp is tall as it stands 24 3/4" tall to the top of the chimney and the area where the shade sits is 15 1/2" by 15 3/8 square. The diagonal measurement of this area is 20 1/4. The shade itself measures 13 7/8" by 14" square and is 20" in diagonal measurement on one angle and the other is 19 1/2" in diameter on the other.
The foot measures 8 1/8 square. This table lamp screams Arts and Crafts the whole way.
The base is masculine and displays two styles of riveting. Along the shade support sides and they are larger diamond shaped rivets. The body and foot of the urn has smaller round rivets on all four sides.
The shade is 4 sided and it fits perfectly inside the shade support and also shows these small round rivets. These small round rivets surround the bottom edge of the shade's frame and corners with riveting on both sides. I believe the base is made of iron and brass with the shade's frame being brass.The green white opalescent stained glass in the panels of the shade compliments this lamp base perfectly. To finish this lamp is one of the nicest frog skin green patina's I have ever seen on a Bradley & Hubbard table lamp.
The canister you fill with oil also has this wonderful patina. This table lamp is considered to be in excellent condition as there is no cracks to any of the green white opalescent stained glass. The frame of the shade as a few bends where it fits into the frame but nothing to obtrusive.This also cannot be seen when the shade is mounted. The lamp is signed on the Duplex Burner's knobs which reads "B H" over "Duplex" with The B being above and the H below the word Duplex.
These knobs show wear as they are used constantly to adjust the wicks and one is bent. There are 2 of these knobs and the wicks are still inside.
This is a functioning oil lamp that I will leave up to the new owner to electrify if they wish. I personally would leave it alone as you do not find Arts & Crafts Period oil lamps in this condition ever. This is an outstanding Arts & Crafts table lamp in unbelievable condition for it age. I have been in the trade for some 47+ years and have never seen another one. I can honestly say this is the finest Bradley and & Hubbard table lamp that I have ever offered for sale.
I have many more pictures if you need to see more of the lamp base and shade. It will be a large box with Styrofoam sides and bottom floor for both the shade and base. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for.
